What are thermally broken windows and doors?

Thermally broken is a type of frame design engineered to enhance the energy efficiency and thermal insulation of buildings. A window or door with a thermal break is constructed with two or more sections of the frame that are separated by a thermally insulating material. This insulating material is typically made of polyurethane or a similar substance with low thermal conductivity. It acts as a barrier, preventing the direct transfer of heat between the inner and outer parts of the frame.

ENERGY EFFICENT COMFORT

Thermally broken technology together with high performance double glazing minimises the transfer of heat and cold to provide optimum performance.

  • Improved comfort of the building, reduced energy costs
  • Avoids condensation build-up on the interior surface of the frame
  • Thermally broken sub-framing available
